Pin #19 Strawberry Jam
One of the most exciting things we discovered after our big move from Seattle to Edmonds this past summer was that each time we went out in the yard we found some new ‘treasure.’ As I mentioned in an earlier post, we inherited an entire little grove of bountiful strawberry plants. I posted about making the strawberry cupcakes in July, but the strawberries just kept coming all summer long. So, of course, I figured it was time to learn how to make jam.
Little did I know how EASY this was. I pinned several ‘recipes’ but in the end, I found that the easiest way to do this was just follow the instructions on the instant pectin jar.
All you do is mash up your fruit, add sugar and pectin.
And there you have it!! We did several jars to give away, many what we ate immediately and a few we still have in the freezer for those dark days of winter when you want a little taste of summer sunshine. We made strawberry jam and blueberry jam as we also had 7 bountiful blueberry bushes producing over 12lbs. of blueberries this summer! Next year, I’ll be more adventurous and make the more extravagant recipes I found on Pinterest including one delicious one for strawberry balsamic jam! Stay tuned next June.
19 down…89 to go…

I’m canning right now! Let’s have a canning date this winter. Marmalade or pear butter or something.
I can still taste it! That fresh jam was sooooo scrumptious! I really liked the PICKING part….like going on a little treasure hunt – looking for the the yummy, ripe berries hiding under their leafy sanctuaries!
